Hennepin Gateway to College - Brooklyn Park

Hennepin Gateway to College is a unique District 287 Area Learning Center offering a second chance for high school students who have recently dropped out (ages 16-20) and students who may be considering dropping out. Through this program students will earn dual credit and have the opportunity to complete their high school diploma while earning college credits at the partner college, Hennepin Technical College (HTC), Brooklyn Park Campus.

This nationally recognized model helps students learn how to succeed in a college setting, under the guidance of a caring team of instructors and student support specialists. Hennepin Gateway to College is the first Gateway to College program in Minnesota.

Student Eligibility:

The ideal candidates are:
•  Students in grade 11 and 12 who are behind in credits and unlikely to graduate on time.
•  Students who read at an 8th grade level or higher.
•  Students who want to go to college but need a high school diploma.
•  Students who want a jump start on technical career training.
•  Students who meet ALC requirements for enrollment.
•  Mature students who can manage a college campus environment.

Faculty Credentialing and/or Teacher Licensure Requirements which support this program:

All College Faculty and High School Teachers meet MNSCU and MDE licensing requirements.
