Model Program

College Now - South Central Minnesota

College Now is SMSU's concurrent enrollment program. Concurrent enrollment (also called "dual credit" or "dual enrollment") allows qualified high school students to earn college credit in their high school, during their regular school day.

College Now classes are taught by qualified high school teachers and supervised by SMSU faculty members.College Now classes are actual SMSU courses where students earn actual SMSU credit. There is no cost to the student for these courses, providing an outstanding opportunity for students to earn college credit and jumpstarting their college careers without incurring additional debt.

Student Eligibility:

The program is for high school juniors and seniors. Juniors must have a 3.0 GPA and be in the top 1/3 of their class, while seniors must have a 3.0 and be in the top 1/2 of their class.

Faculty Credentialing and/or Teacher Licensure Requirements which support this program:

Credentialing is determined by the individual academic departments and disciplines on campus, so it varies by academic area.
